The literacy rate of our country is a bleak 55 percent. Educational institutions such as SMB Fatima Jinnah School in Karachi strive to improve this situation, particularly focusing on girls’ education by offering quality academics along with extracurricular activities for the underprivileged.
Getz Pharma supported and contributed towards the school’s infrastructure, plantation and landscaping.
In June 2011, the Getz Pharma team worked on all four sprawling lawns of SMB-Fatima Jinnah School. Cement benches were provided to the Fatima Jinnah School lawns for students to enjoy their discussions in a healthy, green environment. Flower pots and flower beds were placed at strategic areas.
In addition to this, a detailed paint job was conducted. The entrance doorways were polished along with the wooden pergola at the canteen and the furniture at the reception lobby. To add to the serenity of the school lawns, Getz Pharma set up a wooden pergola at the water station area.
In order to adequately water the lawns and plants, a 100-meter-deep excavation for sweet water was carried out, and two motors for regular supply of water were installed.
