To appreciate the dedication, heroism and importance of our firefighting team, International Firefighters’ Day was celebrated on May 4, 2016, at the Getz Pharma premises to value the commitment, efforts, and risks taken by firefighters. On this day, an external speaker was invited to share valuable insights into the nature of fire, its spread and extinguishing one in a timely manner, and how firefighters can protect their lives while on the line of duty. The Getz Pharma firefighting team proudly wore badges and participated in an interactive session with the speaker.
International Firefighters’ Day was instituted after a proposal emailed out across the world on January 4, 1999 due to the deaths of five firefighters in tragic circumstances in a wildfire in Australia. It is celebrated on May 4 as traditional Firefighters’ Day in many European countries, because it is the day of Saint Florian, patron saint of firefighters.
