Getz Pharma believes that the key to a happy and productive workforce is through employee engagement activities which encourage teamwork, bonding, and camaraderie. With this belief, the company organized GPPL, an intra-company cricket tournament, for its Karachi based employees on December 23, 2017 at the UBL Sports Complex, Karachi.
Excitement for GPPL was high, even prior to the event. Practice nets were set up at the facility, giving employees the opportunity to brush up on their cricketing skills. On the day of the event, sixteen male teams and two female teams participated in GPPL, representing the different departments at Getz Pharma. Families of the employees were also encouraged to attend, with jumping castles and candy floss arranged for the children.
Matches were eventful and exciting, ranging from 45-60 minutes (5 overs each) which allowed the employees to stay back and cheer on their friends and colleagues. The tournament was supervised by umpires accredited by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), which aided to the general atmosphere of friendly competitiveness and good sportsmanship.
The Sterile Production team won the match by 5 wickets, beating the score of 47 by the Quality Control team. Salman Ahmed Khan and Mohsin Ali were Best Batsmen and Best Bowler respectively of the Tournament for their outstanding performance, while Ghania Qudsi Qadri from Getz Greens was honored as Player of the Match and Ali Rafique, captain of the Sterile Production team, was awarded Man of the Finals.
