PAK-SEHAT (Pakistan Study of Premature Coronary Atherosclerosis in Young Adults) is a landmark 10-year longitudinal research study generating a unique real-world evidence database repository that currently does not exist in Pakistan and remains one of the few of its kind in South Asia. The study is led by Getz Pharma and Dr. Bashir Hanif (Principal Investigator, PAK-SEHAT). The study aims to generate robust local evidence to better understand cardiometabolic health and cardiovascular risk among young adults.

The PAK-SEHAT Stakeholders and Investigators Meeting marked an important milestone in the study’s journey. The meeting brought together investigators and stakeholders to review progress, discuss emerging challenges, and align on the next phase of this research initiative.

Several important outcomes emerged from the meeting, including a decision to disseminate the PAK-SEHAT baseline findings to healthcare professionals across Pakistan. The meeting also led to the formation of the Research and Publications Committee and the Major Adverse Cardiovascular Events (MACE) Governing Council to support future scientific activities.

As PAK-SEHAT moves into its next phase, the focus is expanding from evidence generation to translating research into meaningful action. The study’s findings have the potential to strengthen cardiovascular disease prevention, support the early identification of individuals at risk of Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease (ASCVD), inform healthcare practice, and contribute to evidence-based health policy.

By generating locally relevant evidence, PAK-SEHAT aims to advance the understanding of cardiometabolic health in Pakistan while contributing valuable insights to the global scientific community. Through continued collaboration among Getz Pharma, Dr. Bashir Hanif (Principal Investigator, PAK-SEHAT), investigators, research teams, and partners, the study continues to strengthen the foundation for improved cardiovascular health outcomes.
