Getz Pharma Sponsors the 12th Karachi Literature Festival (Digital Edition)

Getz Pharma sponsored the 12th Karachi Literature Festival (Digital Edition) from 26th to 28th March 2021. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s event was held virtually and aired live on the social media platforms of the Karachi Literature Festival. At this event, Getz Pharma presented the awards for the best book in English Fiction, Urdu Prose, and Urdu Poetry, along with the EACPE Film Awards 2020.

During the inauguration ceremony, the Managing Director and CEO of Getz Pharma, Khalid Mahmood shared his opening remarks and presented the best book prizes to the winners, selected by the esteemed jury members. Getz Pharma congratulated the winners of these prizes and appreciated their phenomenal contribution to English and Urdu literature.

The winning entries were:

English Fiction: The Miraculous True History of Nomi Ali by Uzma Aslam Khan

Urdu Poetry: Armughan e Pak: Jiddojahad-e-Azadi ki Manzoom Daastan by Dr. Aslam Ansari

Urdu Prose:
Matan Kuch Gumshuda – Urdu Short Stories by Samee Ahuja
Shair, Shairiaat aur Fiction – Shams ur Rehman ki Tanqeed ka Mutala by Safdar Rasheed

On the third day of the event, 28th March, Getz Pharma EACPE Film Awards 2020 were held. Aspiring filmmakers from all over Pakistan participated by submitting their entries on the topic, ‘WHAT HAVE WE LEARNED FROM THE PANDEMIC?’. This year’s jury members included Sakina Samo, Saqib Malik, and Asim Abbasi. The session started with a panel discussion between the jury members and Khalid Mahmood on this year’s topic, followed by awards distribution to the lucky winners.

The winner of the Getz Pharma EACPE Film Awards 2020 was Javed Iqbal Soomro for his film ‘2020 End World’ and the runner-up award was presented to Qadir Raza for his film ‘Gulak’. Both films shared very beautiful and powerful messages through their cinematography and were highly appreciated by the jury members. Watch the complete session here.
