Generic Name: Pioglitazone HCl
Indicated for:
• Glycemic control in patients with type 2 diabetes (non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus, NIDDM).
• Use in type 2 diabetes mellitus as a second line therapy or with Metformin or with a Sulphonylurea only when:
1. Patients are unable to tolerate Metformin and Sulphonylurea combination therapy
2. Patients are contraindicated to either Metformin or Sulphonylurea. In such cases, the thiazolidinedione should replace which ever drug in the combination is poorly tolerated or contraindicated.
